Hugh Jackman has one of the most impressive physiques in Hollywood. Fans are glad he took his shirt to show off his abs in his latest mirror selfie.
The 55 year old actor is known for his incredible shape year round. But to star in his latest movie “Deadpool & Wolverine”, which premiered mid-summer 2024, Jackman got seriously ripped and he is apparently maintaining this look.
A month before his 56th birthday, the Australian actor posted a bathroom selfie in which he looks ripped. He expressed gratitude for his body, which has allowed him to portray one of the most recognizable superheroes in comic book history for more than 20 years.
Eating 6000 calories a day
According to Hugh Jackman, in order to get ready for his comeback as the slicing superhero Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, he consumed 6,000 calories a day. He claimed that getting in shape for the part wasn’t as easy or glamorous as one may expect.
He said that he had to adhere to a very rigorous diet. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Jackman clarified that maintaining his muscular body required following precise nutritional requirements in addition to ingesting a lot of food.
‘It’s 6,000 calories, and it’s not the calories you necessarily want. Like, half a pizza is 6,000 calories. But no, this is chicken, and it’s tilapia and beans. Tilapia and beans. I don’t know why tilapia. It must be some fish that is lean, and green beans,’ the actor said.
For muscle growth and regeneration, lean proteins like tilapia and chicken were essential. Beans and other green vegetables contributed to the maintenance of general health and the provision of essential nutrients for peak performance. He consumed a lot of calories, but they were spread out over multiple meals to keep him energized and support his demanding training schedule.
Wolverine workouts
As for his workouts, Jackman says that he uses a mix of cardio (usually rowing) and full body strength training where he focuses on compound movements such as squats, trap bar deadlifts, bench press, and adds core and arm exercises. These workouts are relatively short, about 45 minutes to an hour, but very intense, in his words.
Jackman shows that there’s no such thing as “too late” when it comes to losing fat, building muscle, and improving your health.
The myth that your metabolism slows down once you reach as you get older is mostly due to the changes in eating patterns and physical activity levels that come with growing older. True, we spend more time at our desks and fewer hours a week engaging in intense exercise, but most of the time the odds are not stacked against us physiologically.
