A Cybertruck owner decided to take Elon Musk up on his claims that the electric pickup trucks are bulletproof. But unfortunately, the exercise only resulted in modest body damage to the pricey, $100,000 vehicle.
Adult film star Dante Colle filmed himself firing a handgun at his Cybertruck and posted the video to X last week. In the footage, Colle took aim at the back of his vehicle, fired a shot, and then immediately exclaimed “f–k!” and clasped his hands to his head when the bullet seemingly left a hole in the stainless steel exterior. “I don’t think it’s bulletproof, Dante,” the woman filming the video could be heard laughing.
Although, upon closer inspection, one of his friends noted that the bullet did not in fact pass through the back of the trunk.
Giving it another shot, Colle fired again into the side of the vehicle at closer range. “There we go. It works!” he exclaimed, as the camera got closer to show that the truck did indeed stop the bullet, even if it left some damage behind.

Whether or not the Cybertruck is really bulletproof, as Musk has long-since maintained, has always been up for debate. When the Tesla CEO first debuted the vehicle at an event back in 2019, he instructed his his chief designer to throw a metal ball through the allegedly “bulletproof” glass, only to have it smash. Well, maybe that was a little too hard,” Musk winced at the time.
However, subsequent tests have found that the Cybertruck was able to withstand bullets from a 9mm handgun and .22-caliber rifle, as one YouTuber shared earlier this year, though heavier artillery inflicted greater damage. Others who have tested to see whether the Cybertruck is likewise waterproof, as Musk also claims, have fared only slightly better.
In either case, a “don’t try this at home” disclaimer probably applies here, as it’s ill-advised to fire a gun at your own vehicle for reasons too lengthy to list.
