Two chief executives on a mission to make IT work for patients and society are the latest confirmed speakers for Digital Health Rewired 2025.
Rachel Power, chief executive of The Patients Association, and Rashik Parmar, chief executive of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, will speak at the event taking place at the NEC in Birmingham on 18-19 March 2025.
The Patients Association is an independent charity dedicated to ensuring that patient voices shape healthcare. Described by the Times as “the UK’s foremost patient campaigner”, the charity’s chief executive Power also sits on the NHS Assembly and is a member of the National Data Advisory Group.
Her keynote session on the Patient Engagement and Outcomes Stage will focus on how technology can empower patients to become active partners in their care.
Rashik Parmar leads the BCS’s mission to raise professional standards, develop digital skills and support emerging technologies such as generative AI and quantum computing. Parmar was previously IBM’s vice president responsible for delivering its European technical strategy, and has been awarded an MBE for services to business and innovation.
Parmar will speak on the Integrated Care Stage where he will discuss developing the digital workforce to enable transformation and address digital challenges, bringing lessons and experience from sectors outside healthcare.
Power and Parmar join an array of prominent speakers confirmed for Rewired 2025, including newly appointed NHS national chief clinical information officer, Dr Alec Price-Forbes and national chief nursing information officer, Helen Balsdon, who will share their plans for the next stage of NHS digitisation.
Other speakers include Professor Joe Harrison, national director of the NHS App, Phil Wood, chief executive at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Ming Tang, chief data and analytics officer at NHS England, Dr Jessica Morley, postdoctoral research associate at Yale Digital Ethics Centre, and Mike Bracken, founding partner of Public Digital.
