Contrary to what society and social media suggest, you don’t need a hundred-dollar-a-month yoga studio membership (or overpriced leggings) to practice yoga. In recent years, there’s been an astounding number of cities and towns that have instituted free yoga classes at literally zero cost to you.

Many of these free yoga classes are funded by grassroots, nonprofit, or sometimes corporate entities simply for wellness sake. What results is a space where the yoga curious can experience the practice without committing anything more than an hour of their day. It also means anyone can invite a friend to try class minus any worry about financial pressure.

Often set outside in the open air, these classes prove that yoga doesn’t always come with a price tag—and they remind us that free yoga doesn’t mean limiting your yoga practice to being at home alone with a screen. So avail yourself of the invitation to practice and connect with your local community! (And rest content in the knowledge that, in most situations, the teachers are compensated by the organization.)

Free Yoga Classes Near You in Every Single State

The following are options for free yoga classes in every single state. Look closely at the descriptions, as some are specific styles of yoga and may require previous experience, although many are designed or at least intended for all ages, bodies, and experience levels.

If you don’t find anything close to you, search online for “free yoga classes near me.” Note that sometimes classes are labeled as “donation-based” or “pay what you can.” If you encounter a “donation-based” yoga class that’s offered by an individual teacher, not an organization, keep in mind that’s how they make a living as you choose whether or not to pay. The classes included on this list are, of course, cool if you want to give back with a donation, although there is zero obligation to do so.
