Today on Yoga | Birth | Babies, I have Jennifer Schaffer-Goddard to share her birth story. Jennifer is a critic and essayist living in Manhattan. Her first book, Make Me Feel Something: In Pursuit of Sensuous Life in the Virtual Age, will be published by Ecco and Hamish Hamilton in 2027.

Jennifer began taking classes at PYC at just 7 weeks pregnant and continued all the way up to her due date. As I listened to her story, there were so many references to what she learned in class and how those themes showed up in her birth. Tune in to hear how Jennifer discovered empowerment through a beautiful birth- and one that didn’t go according to plan!

In this episode, you will learn:

  • About her pregnancy journey leading up to labor
  • Ways she prepared for her birth and how she envisioned it would go
  • What helped her feel empowered, even in a situation that was different from her original birth plan
  • How new motherhood is going for her
  • One final tip or piece of advice Jennifer would like to offer new and expectant parents
  • Where you can find her work
