The Worst Yoga Teaching Advice We’ve Ever Heard

I always love connecting with members of the PYC community- students, alumni, educators, and everyone in between. Today’s guest shares a deeply personal and moving birth story filled with struggle, resilience, and heartfelt reflection.

Joining me today on Yoga | Birth | Babies is Renata Freitas. Renata is origninally from Brazil and moved to the US for her MBA at Wharton, where she met her husband. She is a traveler, a wife, a mother, and is also 200 hr-certified in yoga. Enjoy her deeply honest birth story.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • About her pregnancy and how she was preparing for birth
  • About her hopes and expectations for her birth
  • About the conversations she had with her care team around the decision to move to a cesarean
  • How the lack of a clear reason for c-section impacted her in the moment
  • How she has felt emotionally in the weeks/months since her birth
  • What the hardest part has been for Renata to make peace with
  • What has helped her feel grounded or cared for in that process
  • What has helped her heal- mentally, emotionally, or physically- since her birth
  • One final tip or piece of advice Renata would like to share with new and expectant parents
