MQ Mental Health Research is delighted to announce that Chris Jarrett has been appointed as their new CEO. Chris joins MQ from Prostate Cancer UK where he was Director of Fundraising & Supporter Engagement.

Chris comes to MQ with a strong track record of fundraising and team leadership with 20 years of experience in the research and medical charity sector, including roles as Chief Income Officer at the RNIB, and at the British Heart Foundation, Asthma UK and the Samaritans.

“I’m really excited to be joining MQ.” Says Chris.

“Mental Health is a cause that is very close to my heart. I have 3 children growing up in a world where more young people are struggling with their mental health. So, the opportunity to be a part of an organisation working to create a better understanding of the causes and the road to better support for mental health is really motivating to me.”

Chris will be taking up his position on the 2nd of March. He joins MQ at an exciting time as the charity is funding more research than ever before with 25 active grants across five continents, with more launching in 2026 and many live research partnerships in the USA and Europe.

Chris is taking over from Chris Martin who has been MQ’s Interim CEO since the summer of 2025.

“We are very pleased to be welcoming Chris to MQ. “ shared Dr Shahzad Malik, Chair of MQ .

“With his impressive fundraising experience, we are excited to see him lead the charity into our next phase of growth as we continue to champion the need for substantially more funding of research in mental health sciences.”

MQ Mental Health Research is committed to supporting high-quality scientific research into different mental health conditions all around the world so that we can better help the 1 in 4 people impacted by mental illness.
