Before experiencing it myself, I would have laughed at the mere suggestion of a “family wellness retreat.” Given everyone’s individual needs, desires, abilities, and schedules, the idea of integrating well-being into vacation time once seemed as absurd to me as climbing Mount Everest with newborns.
I’m pretty sure that I’m not alone in this view. Self-care for parents is often framed as a solo undertaking. All caregivers are worthy of a little breathing room, although we mothers, especially, are told to take time away from our children to recharge, that we can’t pour from an empty cup, and that we deserve to rest.
But what if you could have the best of all worlds at a retreat that centers well-being for the entire family? Around the world, a new guard of family wellness retreats are turning that fantasy into reality.
5 Family Wellness Retreats for a Group Reset
Even the littlest members of your tribe can experience the transformative medicine of mindfulness. These wellness retreats are redefining the possibilities of purposeful family getaways at some of the world’s most desirable destinations.

1. Wanderwild Family Retreats | St. Sebastian River Preserve, Florida
“Parents are more aware now that integrating wellness into everyday life requires doing it together,” says Wanderwild Family Retreats founder Monica Virga Alborno. The property’s Wild Florida Family Spring Retreat extends that invitation to the entire family.
Foraging walks, earth-to-table dining, and fusion yoga that weaves in Pilates and Qigong elements are just a few of the highlights at this subtropical sanctuary. More adventurous families will appreciate Wanderwild’s thoughtfully curated blend of outdoor-centric childcare and time for meaningful memories at the 40-acre wetland eco-retreat, where they share the awe-inspiring home of tens of thousands of flora and fauna species, including high-flying hawks and Florida Panthers.
While one parent sits in a cacao circle and another finds presence in the cold plunge, kiddos can make nature art at a sensorial, play-driven forest school. A midday river cruise and wildlife-viewing experience builds excitement for late-afternoon somatic animal yoga sessions for the whole family, primal grilling, and outdoor movie nights under the Florida stars.
“This retreat is meant to take you back in time for a true Floridian safari that feels wild, untamed, and simple. When being unreachable wasn’t uncomfortable—it was normal,” says Alborno. “I think many of us are craving it.”
Dates: The Wild Florida Family Spring Retreat takes place April 3–April 6, 2026. Private family retreat planning is also open for 2026.
Cost: Pricing for the Wild Florida Family Spring Retreat starts at $4,499 for two adults and up to three children. The cost is all-inclusive, depending on room selection. YJ readers can use code WILD10 for 10% off the Wild Florida Family Spring Retreat and code CONNECTION5 for 5% off any Wanderwild Family Retreat.
2. River Mountain Retreat Center | Everett, Pennsylvania
The Mindful Family Retreat, hosted this fall by Love Yoga Studio‘s Yoga School Director Asia Vianna Leak, is a weekend designed to help families slow down and reconnect, mindfully. The retreat invites shared presence from day one, including creekside yoga platforms along the Warrior Ridge and Tussey Mountain and culminating in an intention-setting campfire gathering for all.
While this is Love Yoga Studio’s first official family retreat, previously many adult family members attended the retreats together, from mother-daughter duos to sisters-cousins combos, and Leak hopes that tradition continues. “This family yoga retreat is truly meant to be inclusive of children and their parents/caregivers,” says Leak, who intends for the retreat to serve as a well-being boost for younger generations. “Starting them early with mindfulness practices is one way to provide protection and set them up for success when it comes to navigating life’s challenges,” she says.
Fresh-air family yoga kicks off the daily itinerary at the retreat, followed by shared meals and nightly wind-downs, offering a compassionately planned balance of structured activities—such as a guided historical hike, yoga games for all, and the parallel sessions of Peaceful Parenting Workshop and Kids Love Yoga—and plenty of “do nothing” time to nap, immerse in forest bathing, soak in a hot tub, or settle into River Mountain’s hammock hideaway.
East Coasters from Pittsburgh and the Washington, D.C. area will find this 150-acre Pennsylvania mountain retreat particularly easy to access.
Dates: The Mindful Family Retreat takes place November 13–November 15, 2026.
Cost: For a family of two in a Queen Pod, the all-inclusive three-day, two-night experience starts at $1,180. YJ readers can enter code YJ2026 here for an extended early-bird exclusive discount. Code valid through March 31, 2026.

3. Sansara Surf and Yoga Resort | Playa Cambutal, Panama
Hosted by mother of two and yoga instructor Staci Bina, Sansara’s Family Yoga and Adventure Retreat provides a seamless five-day, six-night summer flow for all levels of surfers. Stunning beaches are a universally time-honored locale for family bonding, but Bina and her team take things up a notch, leaving no detail to chance.
Retreat attendees will stand tall on their boards among Panama City’s chocolate sands and turquoise waves, engage in daily yoga practices tailored to each age group, and build relationships with horses, turtles, and whales (so long as Mother Nature cooperates on a given day).
“Families are carrying an enormous amount right now: work-life imbalance, youth mental health concerns, social media comparison, and broader societal and environmental stress,” says Bina, who has more than 12 years of experience teaching all-ages yoga. “A wellness retreat together offers a foundation of presence that families can build on long after they return home.”
When to travel: The Family Yoga and Adventure Retreat takes place July 26–August 1, 2026. Sansara also offers customized getaways throughout the year.
Cost: Pricing for villas that accommodate a family of four starts at $3,805. Current room rates reflect discounted low-season pricing and are subject to change. YJ readers can use code Yoga Journal for a $150 family credit.
4. El Convento Yoga Retreats | Sierra de las Nieves National Park, Spain
El Convento is situated in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park. The air is pollution-free and entirely off-grid, with all water sourced from a nearby spring. There is no phone reception and limited satellite internet, offering a genuine chance for families to get offline and reconnect with themselves and each other.
After two decades of immersing kids in nature while parents deepen their yoga practice, founders Nic and Henriette Freeman plan to elevate this summer’s Family Yoga Retreat by focusing on outdoor adventures for children ages 11 and up. “Screen use is rising, and we want to offer retreats to help everyone reconnect with the natural world,” says Nic. “Our last child is 14 years old, and we are very aware how phones and the internet are pervading his life.”
Henriette will act as host, and Nic, who trained with Patabhi Jois in the Ashtanga lineage, will oversee their own kids’ hands-on support. Their eldest son, 23, will lead martial arts and fitness training, while their teenage son will support the kids’ activities.
Each morning, parents can breathe through their asana practice free of distractions as children engage in Muay Thai or outdoor swimming in a spring-fed river. There are also options for paddle boarding and dips in the local village saltwater swimming pool, horse riding in the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, and more.
Dates: The Teens Family Yoga Retreat will take place from Thursday, July 23 to Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Cost: All-inclusive eight-night, seven-day retreats are $895 for adults, $780 for teens.
